Dis-entangle the presenting issue at hand, the experience of emotions, feelings, sensations, reaction as such from the story that your mind creates around it.

Allowing whatever arises to arise and pass without getting caught up in it, without being reactive. It's

like resting openly and relaxed in the space of choice-less awarness.

This is one way to train the mind.
